Weekend Recap

Happy March 1!  I can’t believe we’re almost past February! I had this post all done Monday night and for some reason it didn’t save… so back to the drawing board, right?! 

This weekend was pretty uneventful in that we didn’t have big plans! The Mr went on an ice fishing trip in Wisconsin Thursday night to Sunday and I relaxed a bit at home! 

Friday night I met up with Jess for a fun happy hour at Acapulco.  Margaritas and queso?! Um, yaaaaaaaaasss please!! All.Day.Every.Day.

After happy hour, I rented Secret Life of Pets and watched with the pups before heading to bed!  Crazy Friday night, huh?! 🙂

Saturday was just as crazy!  I purged reorganized our office!  I finally bought myself a desk after using my husband’s for the last few years.  He got his in college at Hope Gospel (resale shop) and it was not the cutest thing, but it worked!  I’ll show a fun “before/after” once I’m completely done!

I ran to Nordstrom to check out some of their items from the winter sale that ended Sunday and shared some of my fitting room finds on Saturday along with a fun giveaway (giveaway still going on!)!  After shopping a bit, I met a girlfriend for lunch and finally got a chance to see her new house!

On a whim on Sunday, Jess and I headed to the Albertville Outlet Mall to see if we could find any good deals!  Shocker.. the best deals were last weekend for the President’s Day sale but we still were able to pick up a few cute things 🙂

Somehow, I ended up with more things for Logan and my nieces than myself.. but it was still fun!  And honestly, the sun was shining and it felt great to get in a lot of steps! Totally my kind of “outdoor activity”! 

 

Logan came home Sunday afternoon and then had a golf lesson (can you believe that?! As good as he is and he’s just starting a few lessons!) so I did what any normal person does.. made fancy s’mores

And that’s a wrap! It was a low key weekend which was just what I needed! Although, I was waiting for Sunday to come to see Logan.. so that didn’t help getting back to work Monday! 

Enjoy the hump Day and just think.. it’s almost Friday!!

DIY Valentine Pom-Pom Wreath 

Happy Monday! I’m still trying to get over the big Packer loss we had and it’s not making Monday any easier that’s for sure! 

I thought I’d share a short and sweet tutorial today to get you ready for Valentine’s Day! I can’t believe we’re in the last week of January – I’m pretty sure it’ll be Valentine’s Day before I know it!

If you didn’t already know.. I love pom-poms.. they’re so cute on just about everything! Ive made them to put on my beach tote and even some garland.  If you’d like those tutorials, just let me know! 

Without further adieu.. my favorite new wreath just in time for the love day! 

Supplies you need:

  • Yarn ($2 at Michaels for a large roll) – any color but I used red, white and pink!
  • A Pom Pom maker – I found mine at Michaels but they’re out of stock online! 
  • Foam wreath- I got mine at dollar tree for $1! 
  • Scissors


First, you’ll make the pom-pom by wrapping the yarn around the two sides of the maker (see below).


You’ll repeat this step and do it on the other side of the maker as well!


Once you’ve done this so both sides are covered – you will then cut the yarn right in the middle (where the opening is).


Next, you’ll put a piece of yarn in the middle where you cut and then you’ll tie very tightly! 


Hopefully these pictures are actually helping! Ha! I thought about doing a video tutorial and then decided that might be a bit much?! 

Lastly, you will pull apart the maker and pull out your Pom-Pom! You will need to fix it a bit and cut a few of the strands so it looks more even! Then viola! 

Now that the pom-poms are made, you can assemble your wreath! I made about 30 poms in order to fill this littler wreath! 


You simply hot glue the poms to the wreath to your liking! 


I did a mixture of the small and large poms to split it up a little bit! And after it was done.. I hung it up for some easy decorations!


I made two of these (one for the porch) and if I could change it – I’d add light pink in to show the different colors since the red and darker pink blend a bit!

Guest Post – Katie’s Fitness Journey

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday (yay!).  I mentioned previously one of my goals for 2017 is to workout at least 3 days a week – in order to be healthier as it’s something I’ve always struggled with.  I thought it would be fun to have a fitness guru chat with us about her journey and how she started to get her life back.  It’s a long post but totally worth it 🙂

Let me preface this by saying – this is by no means, trying to get you to sign up as a coach or even to sign up for programs with BeachBody.  Katie’s story is more about showing what positivity working out can do for your life.  I know, I’m also not one to talk.. hello, I don’t work out often BUT I’m hoping this will pump me up to get back out there 🙂 

Katie is one of the sweetest and encouraging girls I know.  With two boys and a little girl on the way, being a full time physical therapist and full time coach, she’s definitely got her plate full!

Katie and I talked about this blog post many months ago but as she mentioned “life has a ‘way of getting’ in the way” and that totally rings true in everyone’s lives.  She’s going to share about her journey through having her first son, post-partum depression, finding what works for her fitness wise and how she became one of her favorite things; a Beachbody coach!

“After a particularly crazy day (like puking toddlers, running on 2 hours of broken sleep, an oil change gone wrong, kind of day…), I sat down and thought about how I used to let the craziness take hold of my life. How I used to prefer to hide in my house, away from anything that required facing real life. How I used to allow depression and anxiety grip me tighter than I ever thought could happen to me. I had allowed post-partum anxiety to turn into ongoing depression and it took over my life. It stole my smile. Destroyed my body. Screwed with my relationship with my husband, close family, and worst of all, my son.

It wasn’t until I saw a little post on Facebook from an acquaintance of mine advertising a new workout program/system that I saw a glimmer of hope. I had always been an active person, played soccer in high school, enjoyed running, etc. But, I also enjoyed my beer, hot pockets, chips, and of course, chocolate! Unfortunately, these indulgences had started to take a toll on my new #mombod and I was feeling the negative effects of feeling “fat” for the first time in my life. I was very uncomfortable in my own skin, didn’t have any clothes that fit “right”, and my energy was severely lacking! Now before you stop reading, thinking I fell into just another “MLM marketing scam”, let me just tell you that I had the EXACT same doubts! But I wasn’t planning on using the program for anything other than to benefit my health, fitness, and waistline.

My “coach” added me into an accountability group she was running on Facebook where I would “check in” daily with my workout, meals for the day, and daily Shakeology drink. I was completely surprised at how tasty the Shakeology was, how it improved my digestion (helllllooooo normal poops!!), and really DID improve my energy without the need for added caffeine. The workouts were a ton of fun, definitely challenging for my #mombod self, and gave me enough variety. I think what kept me going was the other “challengers” in the accountability group were so supportive. I can remember one early morning at about 3am when my son, Jaydan, was awake, yet again, and I was so freaking TIRED and exhausted knowing I needed to be up at 5am the next day to get my workout in before work. I plugged into the accountability group while I laid crying on my hallway floor and asked for some help.

Shortly after posting in there, someone commented and said something so simple “Cherish these moments with him. Soak up the snuggles. There will be a day when he no longer wants them”. Of course, I have heard this before, but it was JUST what I needed to hear at that time and helped me through a tough night/morning. It was then that I really saw the POWER of these groups. The friendships and bonds that could be formed in such a short time were something I didn’t even know I was looking for in my life. I could feel a shift start happening….. (SIDE NOTE: This challenger is now one of my best friends….someone I never would have met without this opportunity.).

I completed the program and lost 9lbs and 12 inches in just 3 weeks. I was FLOORED at my results and so stinkin’ excited that I was able to do this for ME! It was hard at times to realize that just 30-45 min a day of “me-time” is NOT selfish, and in fact, makes me such a better friend, daughter, wife, and MOM….but once I figured out that small little key to my success, I knew I wanted to share it with other moms who may be struggling as well.

After the 21 days, I stopped the shakeology. I stopped the consistency of the workouts. I slowly began to gain the weight back and negative thoughts began to creep their way back in. It wasn’t until then that I realized I NEEDED this opportunity. I NEEDED something to hold me accountable and a hobby to give me that JOY again.

So I dove in. I signed up as a Beachbody Coach. I did the trainings, I learned all the things, I went to events, I held my own accountability groups, I started to see that I, yes little old ME, could help others who were in the same dark place that I was once in. It was official….I was part of an MLM! Haha. My husband cringed and told me I was in a pyramid scheme (NOT true for many reasons, but I can address those with you at a later time if you’d like! 😉 ), my close family didn’t agree with what I was doing but let me go on my way. I had haters. I had people “unfriend” me. But I also had new challengers. I also had moms coming to me for advice. I was also building new relationships with interesting people who are now my friends. I had found my calling. I had found something that made me happy again. I looked forward to waking up again. I had found myself again.

Fast forward almost 2.5 years and I am happy to say that I am still a Beachbody Coach. I am still actively helping other moms find their way in this new crazy #momlife. Or helping both men and women (not just moms) find that happiness within themselves again through health and fitness. It hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies. It’s hard work.

I am a coach, full time physical therapist, mom of two boys (and a little girl on the way), and some days I wonder how on earth I continue to get it all done. But you can’t pour from an empty cup you guys. And coaching fills my cup…spills it over the brim….so there is ALWAYS time for it. If you’re looking for a change. If you’re sick of feeling “crappy”—whatever that term means to you. If you’re tired of being tired……I may just be able to help you out. All you can do is try – and taking a chance on YOU is always a better choice than sitting back and not trying, wouldn’t you agree?

Woof – that was a long one, huh?! But seriously so inspiring!  I think we’ve all felt that sometimes we aren’t happy with ourselves (image wise) or we aren’t happy with some things in our lives that we have no control over – Fitness is one that we can work on and take complete control over.

What I’m Wearing Wednesday!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  The weather has been surprisingly warm this week (when I say warm I mean like 25+ 😂 but no complaints here!) and I was happy to be able to put on a dress yesterday and not completely freeze!

I shared a few of my thoughts and sharing an outfit that’s $200+ is not something I’d ever do so the outfit I’m sharing today is on sale and you might want one in every color!


I’ll take one in every color! No joke. When I find a top, dress, jeans etc that I like I tend to buy it in every color.. if you feel good in it, you have to right?! 


I’ll take a comfy dress and over the knee boots any day! 


It will definitely become an outfit in my rotation every week/month!

Friday Favorites!

Friday is here and it’s my last 4 day work week for a long time – Boo!  It’s always nice to have a three day weekend and a shorter work week, am I right?! We’re spending some time with my family this weekend to celebrate Christmas since my brother was on his honeymoon the past two weeks!  It’s always so fun when we all get together 🙂 That’s definitely a favorite of mine this week!

My new Eats cookbook!  One of my new years resolutions is to cook 3 meals a week (and not the same 3 every week!) and with this cookbook, I can say I’ve cooked 3 new meals this week!  I’ve made the Mexican Calzones, the Caramelized Onion Brisket Sliders and last night we had Pizza Meatballs with salad! I’m looking forward to cooking more with it!

I also made Butterfinger Blondies as a dessert from the book this week.  Three meals and a dessert in one week – who am I?!

This one is kinda goofy but…. the hubs and I started watching Bob’s Burgers before bed since it’s easy to watch (and laugh at) and on Netflix and I have to say.. I am surprised I like it!

Well.. I’m off to Chicago for the weekend with a girlfriend and cannot wait! My mission is to find the biggest Christmas tree and spread so much Christmas cheer 😊 maybe by singing?! 😂

Friday Favorites!

img_7577Oh my – I didn’t think Friday would ever get here this week!!  We have a weekend at home finally and I’m so excited to relax a bit!  The hubs won tickets to a Breaking Benjamin concert Saturday and while I don’t know any songs by them (that I know of) and probably won’t love their music… we’ll still go for a different date night idea! 🙂  I’m sharing some favorites on this beautiful Friday!

I shared all about some fun fall date night ideas yesterday (even though it shows for Tuesday!) and I’m excited to say we’re crossing a few off our list!  We’re having a “pumpkin carving party” on Sunday with friends and a trip to the pumpkin patch is in order for the hubs and I beforehand 🙂

I just learned that apparently Anoka, MN (a town by us) calls itself the “Halloween capital of the world!”.  Umm how did I not know that?! And where is the Christmas capital of the world??  Anyway – they have so many fun fall activities going on within the next few weeks and I’m so excited for their Halloween wine tasting next week! I’m interested to see if it really is the Halloween capital when we head there next week 🙂
